About Eddie

Eddie Summers hails from the Bronx, New York and is currently a third year doctoral student at The New School for Social Research in their Urban and Public Policy program. He received his Bachelors degree from Marist College in Political Science and his Master's of Public Administration and Policy Degree from Marist College as well. He has worked in higher education for the past five years, providing executive level support for the president of Marist College. Eddie has presented at both national and regional conferences and has served in a leadership capacity on a number of national and regional boards. Eddie has also taught Globalization, Nonprofit Management, South African Politics, History, and Culture, American National Government, and Social Issues. His research focuses on economic development, community and social change, urban development, gentrification, race, class, and gender, and the role of the cultural economy in revitalizing places. He also has an interest in South Africa Politics.
