Welcome to the Northeastern Region!

Greetings Black Graduate Students of the Northeast!

Welcome to the Northeast Region of the National Black Graduate Student Association.

My name is Tina Ligon and I’m your northeast representative for the NBGSA.  I’m a fourth year graduate student at the University of Maryland College Park in the department of history.  My concentration is in African American history, with a focus on black community building in Cincinnati during the 1880s to the 1930s.

The NBGSA is dedicated to helping black graduate students fulfill their goals.  As your northeast representative, my mission in this endeavor is to provide networking opportunities for students and aid in maintaining and establishing new chapters in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.  My objective is to create stronger relationships among black graduate students and BGSAs in the northeast region.

If you are interested in becoming a member or establishing a new chapter of the NBGSA at your college or university, please contact Tina Ligon at nerep02@nbgsa.org.

Join our Facebook group “NBGSA—Northeast Region” (an academic organization group) as another means of staying updated on information dealing with the northeast region, as well as networking with other black graduate students.

I look forward to meeting you at the conference.

Tina Ligon
2007-2008 Northeast Regional Representative
