Welcome to the North Central Region!

Greetings Students of the North Central Region!

“Leaders establish the vision for the future and set the strategy for getting there; they set the foundation for change.  They motivate and inspire others to go in the right direction and they, along with everyone else, sacrifice to get there.” 

Welcome to the second largest region of the NBGSA.  Our region is honored to not only be the home of our Dear President Nameka Bates, but it is also the site of our 2008 National Conference. Marc DeWitt and Joshua Busby are your regional representatives.

Marc L. DeWitt is a second year graduate student at Wright State University (Dayton, Ohio).  Marc is majoring in Educational Leadership, with a focus in Student Affairs and Higher Education.  Marc will be graduating Spring 2008, and enrolling in a doctoral program to obtain a PhD in Higher Education. 

Marc plans to teach in a Counseling and Higher Educations program, while working administratively in student affairs.  Aspiring to become a Vice President of Student Affairs, a senior Vice President or Provost, and eventually a university prexy.

Joshua A. Busby is a second year Master’s of Public Affairs student at Indiana University-Bloomington.  We are honored to serve as a representative for an organization that has been going strong for over 20 years, the NBGSA.  Listed below are our plans for our term as North Central Regional Representative:

  • Improve Black Graduate Students’ involvement in NBGSA related programs and activities
  • Establish permanent communication with the Black Graduate Student Associations at every College and University in the North Central Region
  • Establish permanent communication with the Black Graduate Student Associations at every institution in the country
  • Set realistic goals for the North Central Region and work hard toward accomplishing those goals
  • Devise a strategic plan for the North Central Region
  • Revise or establish guidelines and policies that support the NBGSA’s organizational structure

We believe these 6 points are very pivotal in the continued success of the NBGSA but most especially the success of the organization in the North Central Region.  We look forward to working with each of you because if there is no involvement, there is no commitment!  Marc can be reached at ncrep01@nbgsa.org, and Joshua can be reached at ncrep02@nbgsa.org.
